Derek Lam, who vehemently states this is a Summer collection, seems to have a point. 

His beachy wedges sandals push us immediatly to the sunny California, while his gladiator sandals drive us in a scooter to a warm italian street.

Using the abstract paintings of Julie Mehretu as a model, the newbie Altuzarra gave the impression of professional growth, in a Amazon-like sandals collection, in a tribal style mixed with modern city life, with a punk touch.
“I like the idea of cross-referencing very disparate ideas—sixties shapes, tribal motifs, and techno ravers,” he says.
Definitely relevant.
